Posh Hire Surprisingly Fat Man as Manager!
Peterborough United chairman Chris Simpson announced that unknown American Tom Delgado, who played for the Posh reserve team for two seasons before moving on to play in San Marino, will be the man to lead them forward into the 2012-2013 season at London Road. Mr. Simpson made the hire even though he is believed to be looking to sell the club.
Delgado, 27, played professionally for Peterborough but never made a first team appearance, spending 2 seasons in the reserves before moving to Tre Fiori in the Campionato Sanmarinese, playing 33 matches over 4 seasons before retiring at the end of the 2009-2010 season.
"I am very happy to be sitting here today as the new manager of Peterborough United" Delgado said in a press conference held at London Road. "Through the connections made during my career as a footballer, I am putting the final pieces of my backroom staff together, and we'll truly be ready to get started and sign some talent in the coming weeks. I am well aware of the challenge ahead of me, as I believe we've been picked to finish last this season. With all due respect, I hope that you will be eating your words" Delgado added, believing that he can take Posh into the Premier League.
